RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) are used as remote monitoring and control devices for a wide range of applications. The major markets include water, oil, and gas monitoring. These applications feature wide areas, so there are many small control stations upstream and downstream. Take water monitoring for instance, such as a city water treatment application. Rainfall pours into the dam upstream and engineers must monitor and control the water quality at this location.
