Lead-Free Solder Technology
Advantech has been a leader in the movement to lead-free manufacturing. Lead-free solder is a big part of this green movement and has required Advantech engineers to study and integrate the leading solutions that meet the needs of our demanding target customers. Reworking SMT lines with new equipment that optimize the use of new lead-free solders is important for maintaining reliability and quality. Factors like average temperature and time, melting point, and highest process temperature have to be more closely monitored and controlled, as does product testing.
Flip Chip Technologies
As boards continue to shrink in size for mobile and portable embedded applications, and I/O counts increase, flip-chip has become the technology of choice. Flip-chip technology offers excellent electrical performance due to shorter electrical connections between the chip and substrate, resulting in smaller package sizes. Advantech engineers have the experience, equipment and testing skills required to be a manufacturing leader in solder bumped flip-chip technology as well as others.
Alternative PCB Finishes
Advantech can provide volume production for a variety of PCB surface finishes including I-AG, I-Sn and OSP. All these finishes continue to build on the lead-free manufacturing concept. Advantech has full testing and verification data to ensure these solutions meet all stress and reliability testing.
