Highly Integrated Wireless Sensor Solution for Indoor Environment Monitoring System
Over 70% of employees work indoors with at least three other persons. If the indoor ventilation is insufficient, the air quality deteriorates through accumulating contaminants. In 1992, the World Health Organization (WHO) defined “Sick Building Syndrome”; it describes as abnormal symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, bad taste and asthma attacks caused by air pollution within buildings. Indoor environments impact human health and quality of life/work, so it has become essential to build indoor environment monitoring systems that help overcome these issues.
Requirements and Solution
An environment sensor system provider in Taiwan wanted to make their sensor products wireless. The traditional method of installing wired sensors on different floors was costly but they felt that going wireless was too complicated due to lack of experience with software and cloud integration. Advantech’s M2.COM low power WISE-1520 Wi-Fi module solved the problem. Advantech offered wireless modules with built in software that integrated all the components with an easy to setup cloud platform. WISE-1520 offers proven hardware, complete SDK and design-in service for customer integration and built-in WISE-Agent also helps to communicate with the WISE-PaaS/RMM Cloud platform. So with help from Advantech, the customer was able to build a wireless sensor system quickly and save on expensive installation costs.
- Reduce installation costs of traditional sensors
- Lowers complexity to integrate a wireless sensor and cloud platform
- Collects environment data for further analysis with WISE-PaaS/RMM
