Digital Signage Maximizes Passenger Convenience in Airports
Increasing air travel means more and more people are flying and flight volumes are up. Because, airports now put a high priority on delivering timely and accurate flight information that allows trouble-free boarding and transfers, Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS) are now a common sight at airports. FIDS are used to provide passengers with real-time information right from the moment they step into the airport. FIDS displays are located all around the airport delivering information such as check-in counter locations, flight information, worldwide weather forecasting, domestic airport announcements and local services etc. FIDS play an important role in assisting passengers transit through to the boarding lounge and onto the airplanes, keeping them constantly informed with accurate information. Any potential on site technical problems could have serious consequences that disrupt the operation of the airport and lead to delays and unhappy passengers.
To keep up with the fast delivery of information and provide the best service to passengers, a secure and reliable FIDS system was required. Advantech’s DS-370 digital signage player, powered by an Intel Celeron J1900 processor was used because it provided powerful computing power with integrated graphics that could drive independent displays to supply timely information regarding flight arrivals/departures, gate assignments, waiting hall locations, baggage claim info—as well as entertainment and advertising content.
