Power Saving, High-performance COMe Basic Module
TAIPEI, October 2, 2015 - Advantech, a leading embedded computing solution provider, today announced the release of its latest power saving, high-performance COM Express Basic Module–the SOM-5897. It is equipped with the new, Intel®, 6th Generation Core i™ series processors, which are manufactured using Intel’s 14nm process technology. SOM-5897non-ECC memory supports DDR4 2133MT/s with a 1.2V power design, and up to 32GB dual channel. SOM-5897 delivers better performance through higher memory bandwidth, and 33% better battery life than previous models.SOM-5897 is the first high-end platform able to support 8 PCIe x1 with Gen3 technology, as well as PCIe x1, x4, x8 devices if required. Most importantly, SOM-5897 can adopt a 28mm low-profile cooler for excellent heat dissipation (optional accessory). Opening a new era of thermal solutions, the SOM-5897 leads the COM industry market in high-end platforms and 45W TDP power design. This makes it especially suitable for high performance applications with rich I/O designs such as the ultrasound, military, broadcasting, and industrial automation fields.
Compared with previous platforms there is a 30% improvement in processor performance for SOM-5897, and up to 50% better 3D graphics. It supports quad/ dual core processors with GT4e/ GT2, DX12, OpenGL 4.4, and OpenCL 2.x functions. In addition, multiple displays, such as dual- and triple- displays can be realized. (For example: VGA+LVDS+HDMI; LVDS+HDMI+HDMI; LVDS+DP+DP; DP+DP+DP.) HDMI/DisplayPorts with 4K2K resolution are supported by SOM-5897; and dual-channel LVDS, or 16 simultaneous channels at 1920x1080 full HD resolution are also available.
Featuring dimensions of 125 x 95 mm, SOM-5897 offers the flexibility of higher performance with rich I/O design. It supports a wide-range of input voltages from 8.5V to 20V; this expands options to fulfill diverse application requirements. Also, SOM-5897 comes equipped with one Intel®i219 LAN controller, 8 PCIe x1, 4 SATA Gen3, 8 USB 2.0, 4 USB 3.0, 2 COM ports, SMBus, I2C, and HD audio interface functions. SOM-5897 includes iManager and SUSIAccess to jumpstart software development and protection.
