Advantech Partners with Innodisk to Unlock AMR Vision Capabilities with Advanced MIPI Camera Modules on the AFE-R360

Taipei, Taiwan, August 26, 2024 – Advantech, a global leader in AIoT and Edge Computing announced its cooperation with Innodisk, a leading global AI solution provider. This collaboration leverages Advantech's Intel x86-based AFE-R360 solution and Innodisk's customizable MIPI camera modules to enhance AI-powered object sensing and recognition capabilities, expanding visual applications for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) in smart factories, warehouses, and retail environments.

Empowering AMR Vision with a Cutting-Edge MIPI Camera

AMR products rely heavily on sensor accuracy and computing performance in order to run real-time object detection, thereby achieving full robotic autonomy. AFE-R360, featuring a 3.5" SBC, supports up to 8 MIPI-CSI lanes for low-latency visible camera inputs, and 3 x LAN & 3 x USB-C for depth and LiDar sensors. Through an Advantech custom-designed camera I/O card (MIOe-MIPI and driver collaboration with Innodisk), AFE-R360 can support 4 x MIPI-CSI cameras concurrently, which enables the streaming of 360° panoramic views. In addition, AFE-R360 is built on the Intel Core™ Ultra (code name: Meteor Lake-H/U) platform. It features a 16-core processor, Arc™ graphics GPU, and is the first processor to have an NPU integrated, delivering up to 32 TOPs of performance. With Intel® Core™ Ultra and the OpenVINO™ toolkit, the AFE-R360 is perfect for running object detection AI models, processing immersive graphics, and striking an ideal balance between power consumption and performance. These features make it ideal for AMR development.

Innodisk’ s key models supported on the AFE-R360 include the EV2M-GOM1 (Fisheye Camera), offering adjustable ultra-wide field of view with de-warping technology, and the EV2M-OOM1 (Global Shutter Camera), designed for high-speed dynamic scenes to capture fast-moving objects or production lines in smart factories. Both models are highly customizable for driver development, IQ tuning, FOV customization, and size design. Additionally, the built-in Image Signal Processor (ISP) ensures detailed visuals, meeting the high resolution and frame-rate requirements for various edge AI applications.
