【New Product Announcement】TREK-130 Front Collision Avoidance ADAS Module Realizes Truly Active Video-Based Safety Solution

Taipei, Taiwan, September 10 2018 – Advantech, a leading industrial computing platform provider, is pleased to announce TREK-130 – an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) module designed to enhance driving safety and fleet management by monitoring the environment in front of the vehicle. Equipped with a CMOS camera sensor, the front-view monitoring ADAS module supports forward collision warning system (FCWS, compliant with ISO-15623 2002-10) and lane departure warning system (LDWS, compliant with ISO-17361) technologies, while enabling event monitoring and synchronized video outputs to ensure driving safety. To ensure flexible installation in a wide range of vehicles, the module supports 12V and 24V vehicle power input and is MIL-STD-810G certified for shock and vibration tolerance. Furthermore, the inclusion of a relevant software development kit (SDK) offers system integrators a value-added tool for customized management.

Image Recognition Technology Enables Front-View Monitoring for Enhanced Safety

With the number of global automobile accident fatalities reaching 1.25 million annually, 80% of which are related to driver distraction, governments worldwide are increasingly promoting the use of ADAS solutions to improve driving safety. According to forecasts by the European Union, ADAS solutions have the potential to prevent up to 100,000 automobile accidents per year. Advantech’s TREK-130 is an active vision-based safety solution that uses image recognition technologies to prevent automobile accidents and ensure safe driving. The CMOS camera sensor with 720p@30fps resolution and algorithm supports dynamic-range imaging. For FCWS applications, the technology processes the images captured by the front camera to detect vehicles ahead and potential collision risks. If these collision avoidance systems detect a vehicle within a dangerously close distance, the system can be configured to emit visual and audio alerts that warn the driver to take action in order to avoid a collision. For LDWS applications, the technology monitors lane markings to detect if the vehicle drifts into another lane. This function can assist drivers who have moved into another lane without activating their left or right indicators (indicating an unintentional lane change).

Event Monitoring and Synchronized Video Outputs Facilitate Fleet Management

TREK-130 is a flexible and active video-based detection module that supports event monitoring and synchronized video outputs to facilitate fleet safety management. With RS-232 communication capabilities, the TREK-130 module enables easy integration and ADAS customization. Moreover, to ensure installation in a wide range of vehicles, the TREK-130 parameters can be flexibly adjusted according to specific usage requirements. Designed to be integrated with Advantech’s TREK series of in-vehicle computing terminals (TREK-674/570/773 and other in-vehicle computers), the TREK-130 front-view monitoring module provides an intelligent driving safety solution that can enhance safety and improve fleet management. Moreover, with the module’s vehicle-grade design, wide operating temperature range (-30 ~ 85 °C/-22 ~ 185 °F), and MIL-STD-810G and EN60721 (5M3) certification for shock and vibration tolerance, TREK-130 is designed to withstand operation in harsh environments.

Value-Added SDK Allows Customization and Reduced Development Costs

The included SDK provides system integrators with a value-added tool for customized fleet management that can reduce development time and costs by supporting diverse firmware upgrades for trouble shooting and performance optimization. The functions of the SDK platform include video surveillance, remote diagnostics and upgrades, peripheral control, intelligent video analytics, sensor control, and intra-vehicle communication, which enable effective fleet management for diverse vehicle types.
