Streamlining Warehouse Picking Systems with Quick-Response Interfaces
Order picking is central to any thriving e-commerce or retail business; and is the backbone of successful order fulfillment operations. Accounting for over 50% of fulfillment center operations and 55% of warehouse operating costs. Order picking is arguably the most important activity in fulfillment centers, making effective order picking systems crucial.
Warehouse keepers require picking systems capable of conducting fast-moving and complex processes efficiently. Advantech’s customer is a famous Asian delivery service company. They launched a new picking system capable of handling thousands of shipments per hour. This picking system needed to provide a responsive interface with accurate touch operation.
Advantech IDS-3215P monitor met our customer’s requirements perfectly. The 15” rugged panel mount monitor utilizes a projective capacitive touch solution to ensure quick response times and smooth operation. The backlight brightness of 500 nits facilitated excellent image performance in indoor environments. The panel mount design utilized a metal front bezel that simplified integration within kiosk cabinets.
Slim, Light Design
IDS-3215 leverages a simplified mechanical structure, yielding a lightweight solution. The monitor architecture uses a 3 piece metal frame with a thickness of only 39.2 mm (1.54 in). This is much slimmer than competitors’ solutions, which are 50 mm (1.96 in) thick. Correspondingly, the majority of available touch screen solution re 3.5 kg (7.7 lb). Advantech’s IDS-3215 is only 2.6 kg (5.73 lb). This slim, lightweight design improves installation efficiency.
Ruggedized and Reliable Design
IDS-3215 leverages industrial grade components for rugged reliability. The monitor is equipped with a UV resistant Projective Capacitive touchscreen (PCAP). This PCAP touch panel utilizes Anti-UV materials that block UV wavelengths less than 400 nm. UV resistance extends the display‘s lifespan in environments with strong direct sunlight. This solution also features 1.8 mm (.07 in) thick glass touchscreen capable of resisting vandalism and providing IK07 rated protection.
