Advantech Launches POC-4 Series – World’s First Modular, Multimodal, All-in-One, Medical Computing Solutions

May 31 2022, Taipei, Taiwan - Advantech, a leading provider of healthcare computing solutions, is pleased to announce its POC-4 series of medical-grade point-of-care (POC) terminals aimed at diverse healthcare applications. Featuring a full HD display ranging from 21” to 24” in size, POC-4 series terminals are equipped with an 8th gen Intel® Core™ i5 8365UE/Celeron® 4305UE processor for high-performance computing, NVME SSD for rapid-access storage, and can be integrated with optional expansion slots that extend the system functions. However, the most important feature of this series is the modular design, which allows the system to be interchangeably integrated four peripheral modules, providing the world’s first multimodal medical computing solutions. This flexibility allows POC-4 terminals to be easily configured onsite and deployed to support multiple applications in a wide range of healthcare environments.

Medical-Grade Solution Optimized for Easy Integration

To ensure strict hygiene control in aseptic/sterile hospital environments, POC-4 series terminals are environmentally sealed in a specially designed plastic enclosure that supports regular sanitization using a variety of disinfectants and sanitizing agents. Compliant with IEC/EN60601-1 medical safety standards for electrical devices, POC-4 devices can also be upgraded with IP65-rated protection from water and dust ingress to ensure reliable operation and an extended service life.

Designed to Provide a Multimodal Solution

Unlike traditional all-in-one (AiO) computers, the POC-4 series was designed to provide easily configured multimodal solutions. The modular structure allows the terminals to be equipped with two interchangeable modes–AiO and open frame– according to usage requirements. Moreover, for medical systems integrators and channel providers, this flexible configuration and compliance with relevant healthcare regulations reduces development time for a faster time-to-market.

Flexible Customization and Expansion

Of the POC-4 series offerings, POC-421 and POC-424 are the two models currently available. POC-421 (21.5”) and POC-424 (23.8”) are compact, ultra-thin terminals with high customization flexibility. The provision of an expansion slot allows additional M.2 and I/O interfaces to be integrated to support specific applications and infrastructure configurations. Overall, POC-421 and POC-424 provide versatile AiO computing solutions that are ideal for a wide range of healthcare applications.
