Network security is a critical factor in today's digital landscape, and it is an issue that businesses of any size cannot afford to overlook. With the increase in network traffic and connected devices, as well as the growing trend towards zero-trust network architectures, the complexity of enterprise networks and the network workload have surged dramatically. Network security functions providers are in dire need of more computing power coupled with reasonable costs to operate various network security functions.
These demands have driven the development of this series, which offers a highly integrated array of network interfaces that seamlessly embed into complex enterprise network environments. From 1G to 100G ports, fiber optics to twisted pair cabling, LTE/5G to Wi-Fi, and the potential for additional NMCs (Network Mezzanine Card) and PCIe expansion cards, our new products have you covered for every situation. Leveraging Advantech's professional computational tuning, this series delivers computing power comparable to Xeon SP CPUs while maintaining the price point of a core CPU. This makes it an efficient and versatile platform for network applications such as enterprise cybersecurity, UTM, IDS/IPS, ADC, SD-WAN, and network encryption and decryption.
Boosting Intel® Core™ Processor Performance
The FWA-4134 and FWA-3034 are offering powerful computing capabilities. The computing platform adopts the latest P-core and E-core Performance Hybrid Architecture. P-cores, or Performance-cores, are high-performance cores engineered for maximum speed while maintaining efficiency. They are tuned for high turbo frequencies and are ideal for powering through intensive single-threaded tasks. On the other hand, E-cores, or Efficient-cores, are designed to maximize CPU efficiency, gauged in terms of performance-per-watt, and are perfect for scalable, multi-threaded performance. The CPU options provided by this series includes a full P-core CPU or a combination of P-core and E-core CPU. Users can choose the most suitable CPU based on the requirements and characteristics of network functions.
Advantech R&D team has optimized the CPU performance to expand the TDP limits of FWA-3034 to a new level. They increased the CPU TDP upper limit from the original 65W up to 110W, allowing Intel Core processors to achieve the performance levels of Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, while still benefiting from the price advantage of Core processors. Compared to the previous generation FWA-3033, the CPU computing performance of FWA-3034 has improved by more than 50%.
Additionally, the FWA-3034 supports DDR5 ECC UDIMM memory and NVMe SSD. DDR5 offers faster data transfer rates and lower power consumption than DDR4, while ECC provides strong data integrity and reliability. Support for NVMe SSDs delivers a 25-fold increase in data transfer volume compared to SATA devices, reducing file opening and boot loading times, and enhancing computing performance.
Flexible and Expandable Network Interfaces for Enterprise Network of Different Scales
Modern enterprises require the integration of various heterogeneous network devices, which has led to increasing complexity within corporate networks. The presence of diverse network interfaces, such as different bandwidths (e.g., 10GbE, 2.5GbE, 1GbE) and different media types (e.g., copper, fiber, air), often coexist within the same network architecture. This necessitates the use of multiple devices to integrate and connect these heterogeneous interfaces. The FWA-4134 is equipped with 8 MNC expansion slots, allowing for the expansion and combination of network interfaces and bandwidths, ranging from copper to fiber, and 1 to 100GbE ports. The FWA-3034 enhances this integration with a variety of onboard network interfaces, including built-in 2x 10GbE SFP+, 8x 2.5GbE RJ45, and 2x 1GbE SFP ports. Additionally, it offers an NMC slot option. These versatile network capabilities ensure seamless integration and scalability for both east-west and north-south network protection.
In addition, the FWA-3034 comes with 1x M.2 B-key 3052/3042 for LTE or E-key 2230 for Wi-Fi module, offering configuration options for Wireless WAN or Wireless LAN. A 1x PCIe4.0x8 FH/HL expansion slot is available for installing additional add-on card, such as a RAID card. These expansion possibilities significantly enhance the FWA-3034's flexibility and accessibility in network applications.
High-Availability Design to Ensure Continuous Business Operation
In the realm of enterprise networking, network availability is a critical requirement, as any interruption in connectivity can lead to business downtime, which in turn can result in decreased performance and revenue. Networking equipment, positioned at crucial nodes within the network, plays a pivotal role in maintaining high availability. The FWA-4134 and FWA-3034 are designed with this in mind, featuring LAN bypass function to safeguard against network service interruptions due to maintenance or other factors. The LAN bypass mechanism can reroute network connections, thereby preventing network downtime. This series is equipped with redundant power supply mechanisms, significantly reducing the probability of single point of failure.
