‘Optimize Industrial Edge’ - Advantech and eco-partners to showcase innovations in digital transformation at SPS 2024

Industrial IoT pioneer Advantech and its partner ecosystem will use the SPS 2024 trade show to highlight how their combined expertise can customize and optimize the digital transformation journey for machine builders and systems integrators. Solutions offered by Advantech and its ecosystem provide end users with the market’s most advanced automation systems to satisfy specific application challenges.  

At Hall 7 booth 370, Advantech and their key partners will shine the spotlight on solutions under the theme ‘Optimize Industrial Edge’, focusing on a solution-oriented approach to customers’ challenges. The booth will feature a dedicated consultancy area where visitors can engage with Advantech’s professional team of experts.

To outline the potential solutions, visitors to the booth will have the opportunity to explore five dedicated demo stands that focus on key areas: integration services; M2M (machine-to-machine) intelligence; Industry 5.0; AI journey; and industrial cybersecurity. Unlike many in this competitive sector, industrial hardware manufacturer Advantech has its own established global ecosystem of expertise to help co-create the future IoT world using the most expedient and cost-effective strategies. 

At each stand, Advantech and a partner will showcase a series of live and/or static demonstrations. For example, the ‘integration services’ demo stand will focus on automation control and machine visualization featuring the latest modular computing, industrial PC and visual inspection technologies. At the same demo stand, SALZ Automation will run a live demonstration highlighting precise synchronized motion control using a compact EtherCAT controller. 

The ‘M2M intelligence’ demo stand will involve the demonstration of Advantech’s DMP3 software, a remote device provisioning, monitoring and management platform featuring VPN integration made available for users both in SaaS and on-premise. Measurement and testing partner AMC is set to deliver a live demonstration for those involved with machine prognostics and health management (PHM). This smart IoT solution with edge-cloud collaboration can benefit both end users and machine builders alike.

At the ‘Industry 5.0’ demo stand, Advantech will show how customers can empower their digital transformation. A live PHM demonstration is set to outline machine health and failure risk forecasting for proactive machine management. At the same stand, Orange Business will present a demonstration of their end-to-end Environmental Data Management solution. The 'AI Journey' demo stand will spotlight edge AI solutions with a live demonstration focused on safety, powered by the GenAI computing platform. Video software innovation partner Network Optix (Nx) will demonstrate how to train and deploy an AI model in Edge Impulse, using video captured through Nx, with AI Manager running on an Advantech ICAM industrial AI camera.

Visitors to the ‘industrial cybersecurity’ demo stand will see how adopting Advantech’s latest modular computing, networking and industrial PC technologies minimizes any risk of data breaches. Advantech's partner, TOPIC, will present a demonstration titled ‘When Timing is Critical in Edge Computing’, which will highlight sub-nanosecond time synchronization and time stamping (PTP-HA + SyncE). This enables Cyber Security teams to detect the smallest abnormalities, while control engineers can access precise, timestamped data in real-time distributed control systems across industries like semiconductor, military, industrial automation, energy, telecommunications, and finance.

Three main pillars are set to present further demonstrations, the first showcasing a collaborative robot (cobot) with built-in safety functions, presented by Xentara and industrial communication partner Hilscher. Another partner, Cumulocity, will demonstrate IoT device and application management at the second pillar. As third pillar, Axelera will be part of the booth showing the integration of their AI accelerator with Advantech’s embedded IPC.

The success of the solutions presented at the booth will be supported by several partners of Advantech’s strategic and technological ecosystem, including AWS, Intel, Micron, Microsoft and NVIDIA.

Over the past two years, Advantech has made notable strides in its sustainability performance. The company is a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), recognized as being in the top 5% of the Global Sustainability Benchmark across all industries and ranking fourth in the computers & peripherals and office electronics sector. During this period, Advantech has also received multiple ESG-related awards and certifications, including being named one of TIME Magazine’s “World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2024.” The SPS Germany booth is designed with sustainability in mind, with 69% of materials (such as construction walls, flooring, and stands) made from recycled elements, aiming to minimize material waste and reduce carbon footprint.
