Advantech EKI-2720 Series Ethernet Switches Provide Reliable Network Service for ITS Applications

Taipei, Taiwan, October 16, 2019— Advantech, a leading supplier of industrial communication equipment, is pleased to launch the latest industrial ITS-oriented Ethernet switch: the EKI-2720 series for intelligent traffic system network communication. It is a ruggedized industrial unmanaged Ethernet switch of 20 ports, holds EN50121-4 (track-side standard) and NEMA TS2 (intersection traffic control equipment standard) certification, and provides stable network communication service even when exposed to an extreme -40 ~ 75oC temperature range.
EN50121-4: Trackside Electromagnetic Compatibility Standard
Severe interference potentially leads to accidents and risks travelers’ lives. To enhance safety, the EN50121-4 specifies emission and immunity levels; providing performance criteria for signaling and telecommunications (S&T) apparatus. The EKI-2720 is fully compliant with EN50121-4 and therefore ideal for trackside applications such as video surveillance, emergency phones, and signaling systems.
NEMA TS2: Intelligent Transportation System Standard
Defined by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), NEMA TS2 specifies operational performance for intelligent transportation system equipment in applications like road condition signs and traffic lights. The EKI-2720 series is NEMA TS2 certified and can operate in extreme temperatures (-40 ~ 75oC) and harsh vibrational environments. It is best for ITS applications like road surveillance, intersection monitoring, and traffic control.
High Port-Density DIN-Rail Solution for Resilient Future Proof Expansion
The EKI-2720 series is composed of 16 copper ports and an additional 4 fiber ports. Its high port-density design allows for mass short distance device connectivity within 100m and serves long-distance, intercity network communication up to kilometers. The ports provide resilient wire deployment for future expansion needs.
