Response Measures to Samsung DDR4 IC EOL Announcement
1/5/2568

Recently, Samsung has issued End-of-Life (EOL) notifications for DDR4 ICs in certain market segments. Although confirmation has been received from Samsung Taiwan and Advantech’s OEM module suppliers that the supply tightening is due to short-term production cuts—and that no official discontinuation for the industrial market has been announced—according to the current roadmap, supply is expected to continue until the end of 2026.
Nevertheless, in consideration of future supply risks and supply chain stability, all PD teams are advised to immediately adopt the following response measures:
New Project Planning Strategy
It is recommended that new projects avoid using Samsung DDR4-related modules. System part numbers will be gradually updated with the status "Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND)".
Inventory Control for Existing Projects and N+3 Buffer Stock Planning
IS&D has completed a stocktaking of current inventory and usage for Samsung DDR4 modules. The standard lead time has been updated to 12 weeks in the system. Based on historical consumption and forecast (FCST), a 3-month purchase order buffer is being planned. PD/SCM teams are requested to revalidate their next three months of demand. If there are additional requirements, please promptly place them into the system to enable IS&D to arrange expedited procurement and supply continuity.
Alternative Solution Recommendations for New Projects
Since Taiwanese brands (e.g., Nanya) currently do not offer a comprehensive DDR4 solution portfolio, new projects are advised to prioritize the evaluation and adoption of Micron or Hynix alternatives to mitigate potential supply disruption risks.
Samples of the alternative part numbers are now available upon request, and deliveries are expected in early May or within two weeks upon confirmation. Please refer to the attached document for detailed information regarding alternative materials.
Attachment: Latest DDR4 Roadmaps from Samsung, Micron, and Hynix According to the updated roadmaps from each supplier, DDR4 supply is expected to continue until the end of 2026.
