Advantech, a leading provider of industrial edge AI solutions, has announced the release of systems powered by the NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ NX and Jetson Orin Nano™ system-on-modules. To help accelerate the process of development to deployment for AI developers, Advantech provides the systems with great flexibility, including a fanless computer, developer kit, and solution kit. Developers can test AI models and related peripherals on the developer kit and solution kit. After the proof of concept (PoC), developers can choose between a standard fanless computer, customized designed computer, or embedding the solution kit directly into their existing system. These solutions allow developers to develop with ease and deploy with flexibility.

NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX/Nano: Smaller, More Powerful, and with Lower Power Consumption

NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX and Jetson Orin Nano can run multiple neural networks in parallel and process data from a myriad of high-resolution sensors simultaneously. The small form factor and lower power consumption make them perfect for AI at the edge.

Advantech MIC-711-OX, MIC-711D-OX, and MIC-713S-OX leverage the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX module to deliver AI performance with up to 100 trillion operations per second (TOPS) at the edge. The Jetson Orin NX is smaller than a credit card and uses minimal power (10 ~ 25W). It provides 3 times the computing power efficiency of the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier module and 5 times that of the Jetson Xavier NX.

Advantech MIC-711-ON and MIC-711D-ON leverage the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano module to deliver up to 40 TOPS of AI performance in the smallest Jetson form factor, with power options between 5W and 15W. This provides up to 80 times the performance of the NVIDIA Jetson Nano™ and sets a new standard for entry-level edge AI.

MIC-711 Systems Deliver Wireless Capabilities and Camera Support

The MIC-711 series is uniquely suited to AI video compute-intensive applications at the edge. As part of the Advantech MIC-AI series, the MIC-711 series delivers I/O including 1 x LAN, 1 x HDMI, 1 x Micro SD, 2 x Nano SIM, 2 x USB 3.2, 1 x USB 2.0, 1 x Mini-PCIe, 2 x M.2, and optional GMSL2 to AI developers. As large-scale deployment in diverse scenarios is increasingly common, developers require wireless solutions with greater flexibility. Accordingly, the MIC-711 series provides 2 x Nano SIMs (1 x for 5G and 1 x for 4G/LTE mobile communication) and M.2 3052 dedicated for 5G applications.

The MIC-711 series helps implement AI video solutions at the edge by supplying power for 2 x cameras through USB 3.2. Each USB port supports 15W power input to help customers integrate USB cameras.  The MIC-711D-OX and MIC-711D-ON support optional 2x GMSL2 cameras up to 3Gbps throughput.

Of all the MIC-711 series, the MIC-711-OX and MIC-711-ON are fanless compact computers (130 x 130 x 46 mm). They are capable of enduring the wide operating temperatures (-10 ~ 50 °C) found in outdoor/harsh-environment operations. With the same I/O as the fanless computers, the MIC-711D-OX and MIC-711D-ON developer kits are in carrier boards form factor. Developers can use these kits to try their AI models for PoC.

The MIC-711D-OX and MIC-711D-ON reduce time-to-market. After AI model testing, these kits can be directly built into existing systems. This accelerates the schedule from development to deployment and shortens the project approval processes.

MIC-713S-OX Solution Kit Enables Flexibility to Transform into Various Form Factors

The MIC-713S-OX solution kit consists of carrier boards designed with the test-then-design mindset. The MIC-713S-OX offers as much I/O expansion as possible and all the peripherals are tested beforehand. AI developers can quickly integrate peripherals such as IP cameras, USB cameras, LAN cards, PCIe expansion cards, or 2.5”/3.5” SSD/HDDs, and customize them into the ideal form factors they want.

The MIC-713S-OX has 2~5 x LANs (4 can be upgraded to PoE for IP cameras), 6 x USB 3.0 (2 x USB at the front support up to 15W/port USB camera), 1x MIPI CSI for 2x GMSL2 camera, and 1 x PCIex4 for various expansions like LAN cards or frame grabbers for more I/O flexibility. The MIC-713S-OX has 1 x mini PCIe, 1 x M.2 2280, and a dedicated power that allows SATA ports up to 2 x 2.5”/3.5” HDDs. With all the tested peripherals and Advantech design-in service, customers can transform the MIC-713S-OX into different form factors such as AI NVR (Network Video Recorder) and AI robotic systems.

The MIC-713S-OX provides comprehensive I/O support and can fulfill requirements in various applications.

MIC-AI Series is Easy to Implement at Scale.

The MIC-711 series and MIC-713S-OX provide an easy way to update the BSP on the hardware system. Users can reach the OTA port or SD card through the maintenance door on the front of the MIC-711 series and MIC-713S-OX. This design enables users to update the system quickly without complicated processes. Advantech further provides 24/7 remote management support and accommodation for BSP through Allxon, an Advantech ecosystem partner for cloud service.

In sum, Advantech provides developer-based systems from kit, fanless systems, and design-in services that help developers transition from development to deployment without effort. The MIC-711 series and MIC-713S-OX will be released in April 2023. For more information, please contact your regional Advantech sales team or visit our website.
