Driving Smart Mobility with Hydrogen : Advantech Powers HYDROGEN VALLEY POWER into a New Era of Intelligent Hydrogen Buses
4/17/2025
TAIPEI, Taiwan – April 17, 2025 — Advantech (TWSE: 2395), a global leader in IoT intelligent systems and embedded platforms, today announced its collaboration with HYDROGEN VALLEY POWER CO., LTD. to upgrade the intelligence of Taiwan’s first domestically designed and manufactured hydrogen-powered electric bus. Developed entirely in-house by HYDROGEN VALLEY POWER, this hydrogen bus boasts an impressive refueling time of approximately 15 minutes and a driving range exceeding 450 kilometers. Equipped with Advantech’s AI-powered Intelligent Bus Solution, the vehicle is designed to enhance driving safety, optimize driver behavior management, enable predictive maintenance, and reduce operating costs. Following its recent successful public road test, this milestone marks the beginning of a new era for Taiwan's green and smart transportation development.
Van Lin, Senior Director of Advantech’s Intelligent Service Sector, stated, “In this hydrogen bus project, Advantech’s focus has been to empower vehicles with real-time sensing and intelligent decision-making capabilities through Edge AI and our intelligent in-vehicle platform. Our Intelligent Bus Solution, powered by the TREK in-vehicle computer, provides real-time analysis of driving conditions and integrates AI safety features such as forward vehicle distance monitoring, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, and driver behavior management. In addition to safety features, the system also supports functions such as arrival notifications, multimedia advertising, fleet dispatching, and driver schedule management — helping transport operators enhance both safety and operational efficiency, while reducing breakdown rates and accident risks, achieving the dual goals of Safety & Efficiency.”
Van Lin further emphasized, “As hydrogen technology advances rapidly, the integration of intelligent in-vehicle systems will become a key enabler for the next generation of sustainable transportation. Advantech will continue to collaborate with industry partners to accelerate the digital transformation of hydrogen-powered fleets, establishing a new benchmark for efficient and clean mobility — where intelligence meets hydrogen.”
Yin-Hao Cheng, Chairman of HYDROGEN VALLEY POWER CO., LTD., remarked, “As the world accelerates toward its 2050 net-zero carbon goals, Taiwan is also entering the hydrogen mobility era. In partnership with Advantech, we are proud to introduce Taiwan’s first self-developed hydrogen electric bus, featuring a next-generation 85kW Japanese fuel cell system, a domestically developed 235kW direct-drive motor, and a 36kWh auxiliary power system, along with a 30kg onboard hydrogen storage module. The vehicle offers rapid refueling and long-distance capabilities, requiring just 15 minutes for a full hydrogen refill and delivering over 450 kilometers of driving range. By integrating Advantech’s intelligent in-vehicle system, we can further enhance both safety and passenger comfort. This collaboration not only showcases the strength of Taiwan’s manufacturing and innovation but also lays the foundation for the country’s green transportation ecosystem.”
With nearly two decades of experience in the intelligent bus and commercial vehicle solutions market, Advantech continues to leverage its global deployment know-how and robust technical expertise. The successful rollout of Taiwan’s first hydrogen-powered intelligent bus — jointly developed with HYDROGEN VALLEY POWER — represents a significant milestone in the evolution of smart, sustainable mobility.
Looking ahead, Advantech remains committed to integrating AIoT intelligent platforms with in-vehicle systems, supporting industry partners in accelerating the adoption of smart transportation solutions. This initiative aligns with Advantech’s 2025 brand strategy: "Edge Computing & WISE-Edge in Action", reinforcing its vision of "Enabling an Intelligent Planet".
