- Purchased plants in Xindian City, Taiwan.
- Imported industrial personal computer (IPC) line and succeeded in its production and marketing, which became the second main product line after the PC-LabCard.

- Introduced the first industrial PC - IPC-600.

- Independently developed and manufactured industrial CPU Card and IPC Chassis series, which combined as complete IPC combo, and formed a complete system component supply plant for IPC industrial automation, gradually building international visibility.

- Introduced Industrial Workstation series products.
- Successfully developed ADAM-4000 Series Remote Data Acquisition Module, which became the breakthrough product in remote measure signal processing and communication field.
- Set up office in Beijing, China.

- Won the 2nd National Award of Small & Medium Enterprise by National Association of Small & Medium Enterprise, ROC; passed ISO-9001 certification.
- Finished development of AWS-850/860 Type II industrial PC Workstation.
- Set up offices in Düsseldorf, Germany and Paris, France.
- Set up office in Milan, Italy.

- Invested and founded Advantech Germany.
- Expanded overseas sales locations.
- Assisted Mechanical and Systems Research Laboratories of Industrial Technology Research Institute to introduce PC and industrial controllers as well as motion control cards.

- ADAM module won 1st Outstanding Safety Instrument Award of Taiwan.
- Started building Advantech Neihu building.
- Purchased 2,147 square meters of plant space in Donghu District, began operations at the end of September.

- Purchased another 1,445 square meters of plant space in Donghu.
- Merged American industrial computer design and manufacture company PCS Computer.
- Set up Yan Industries, Advantech (Guangzhou Bonded Zone) Co., Ltd., ABR (Advantech Brazil S/A), AAC (Advantech Automation Corp.) and other investor corporations.
- Won 1989 Corporate Professional Training Blue Chip Company "Gold Businessman Award" selected by National General Trade Association.

- Won One & Only Gold-Level Partner in Microsoft's Windows Embedded Partner ODM Category, allowing direct sell of Microsoft ODM embedded software and Advantech hardware integrated products.
