Taipei, Taiwan, October 22, 2026 - Advantech, a global leader in IoT intelligent systems and embedded platforms, today announced that its AFE-E630 Arm-based embedded edge industrial system, powered by the Rockchip RK3568 platform, has successfully completed DEKRA’s cybersecurity assessment in accordance with IEC 62443-4-2:2019, Security for Industrial Automation and Control Systems – Part 4-2: Technical Security Requirements for IACS Components.
The AFE-E630 has received an Attestation of Conformity (AoC) with Security Level 2 (SL2) capability, providing customers with a reliable technical foundation for device- and system-level cybersecurity design and compliance. It also helps customers address increasingly stringent cybersecurity requirements, including the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
Accelerating Cybersecurity Compliance for Energy Storage Applications
As the EU Cyber Resilience Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/2847) enters into force in phases, and as energy infrastructure becomes increasingly digitalized and connected, cybersecurity requirements across energy storage, power, and industrial energy systems continue to rise.
IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 provides a strong component-level cybersecurity foundation for addressing CRA-related requirements and can help reduce the effort required for downstream product security design and compliance integration. Its security capabilities can also support broader energy-sector standards, including IEC 62351, IEC 61850, and IEEE 1686-2022, which cover power system communication security, power automation communications, and cybersecurity capabilities for intelligent electronic devices (IEDs).
Designed as an edge computing platform for energy storage sites, the AFE-E630 can be deployed in energy management systems (EMS), microgrid controllers, and industrial edge gateways, supporting key workloads such as data acquisition, protocol processing, edge computing, and AI inference.
By leveraging the AFE-E630’s existing IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 security capabilities and assessment evidence, system integrators and industrial customers can incorporate validated platform-level security into subsequent device- and system-level compliance processes. This helps reduce repetitive validation efforts, lower development and verification costs, and shorten deployment timelines.
Covering Seven Foundational Requirements for Host Device Security
The assessment covers all seven foundational requirements defined in IEC 62443-4-2 (FR1–FR7) as well as common component security constraints (CCSC). As the AFE-E630 is classified as a Host Device, the assessment also verifies applicable Host Device Requirements (HDR).
The scope includes identification and authentication control, use control, system integrity, data confidentiality, restricted data flow, timely response to events, and resource availability.
From account and access management and least-privilege control to firmware integrity protection, data encryption, network segmentation, audit logging, and abnormal-load protection, the AFE-E630 establishes a comprehensive security baseline across critical areas of device operation.
From Secure Design to Industrial Deployment
Powered by the Rockchip RK3568J processor, the AFE-E630 features an industrial-grade design with a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C and 9–30V DC wide-range power input, enabling reliable operation in demanding industrial environments.
As Advantech’s first Rockchip- and Debian-based edge intelligence system to achieve DEKRA IEC 62443-4-2 SL2, the AFE-E630 combines industrial-grade reliability with component-level cybersecurity capabilities on a single platform. It also provides a reference architecture for future industrial edge solutions based on Rockchip and Debian platforms.
