Advantech's ruggedized services offer a means to extend support to a broader range of new application environments. As the number of embedded applications continues to rise, the ability to reliably operate in new environments is becoming increasingly important. However, demand for this capability exceeds the harsh industrial and military environments that first come to mind. Outdoor traffic control, in-vehicle computing, and on-robot embedded computing are a few of the expanding range of applications that demand embedded computing performance with increased durability and reliability.
Automated Conformal Coating Service
A conformal coating service is offered to protect the PCB and components from dust, moisture, fungus, corrosion, and vibration. The coating can be brushed or sprayed onto the PCB depending on the application needs. A conformal coating can minimize electromigration between metal conductors and protect circuits and components from direct contact that leads to abrasions or electrical short circuits. Advantech offers automated conformal coating services using Asymtek C-740 Conformal Coating equipment for cost-effective, selective application of conformal coating materials that virtually eliminates extensive masking and reworking while maximizing throughput. Advantech uses acrylic resin coating materials and adheres to IPC-610D regulations to generate a consistent, yet adjustable, coating thickness.
Solution for Preventing Corrosion and Moisture
- Coating protects circuitry from moisture, fungus, dust, and corrosion caused by extreme environments.
- Coating prevents damage from board handling during construction, installation, and use, while also reducing mechanical stress on components and protecting from thermal shock.
- Coating resists abrasion during service.
- Coating enables greater component density due to increased dielectric strength between conductors.
