Radiotherapy Imaging: Revolutionizing Hybrid OR Displays

9/30/2024

Background

Brianlab is a leading provider of Digital OR and Radiotherapy solutions. The ExacTrac dynamic system uses a combination of X-Ray imaging and Thermal surface tracking to create a detailed 3D model of a patient’s anatomy. This allows for more precise targeting of Radiotherapies. This enables the therapy to be more effective even with lower dosage and reduces the risk of collateral damage to surrounding tissue.

Challenge:

These advanced image detection technologies require the right screen for targeting and display of the imaging data. The environment of Hybrid Operation Room (HybridOR) is challenging for typical displays which are vulnerable to electrical interference from high energy imaging equipment such as X-Ray generators. At the same time the display must be capable of displaying specialist image formats used in radiology to improve the visible contrast of images. The typical target area is not limited to the 16:9 rectangular shape of most modern displays and is closer to a circular or square aspect ratio.

Solution:

The Advantech PAX-324 is a display specially designed for application in Operating Room environments. The 16:10 aspect ratio and DICOM calibration is suitable for live display and review of X-Ray images. The integrated touch panel provides a convenient interface for the user and obviates the need for a secondary control panel.

Key Features:

The PAX-324 is hardened against electromagnetic interference from external equipment and does not produce harmful radiation itself. The high brightness display with factory DICOM calibration ensures that no detail is lost and doctors have a clear view whilst analyzing patient’s anatomy for planning and performing procedures. With many I/O options including SDI that support long cable runs the display also offers installation flexibility for larger and more deeply integrated HybridOR’s.
