【Phase Out】Selected D3 DRAM Module Part Numbers and DDR3 DRAM Module EOL Notice

IS&D hereby formally announces the phase-out of the following DDR3 DRAM module products as of today. The detailed part number list is provided at the end of this email.

• Below are the updated DDR3 DRAM Module EOL notification, consolidating all DDR3 EOL letters released in January and today, with clarified alternative solutions and focus part numbers. 
• DDR3 DRAM Module EOL Notification provide additional clarification on the reasons for product discontinuation, potential impacts, LTB (Last Time Buy) planning, and available alternative solutions, as detailed below.  
• Please refer to the following Nanya-based D3-1600 part numbers, which will serve as the primary focus for your MP projects and future business going forward. Priority should be given to 4GB and 8GB capacities, as these represent the mainstream DDR3 offerings.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 

Upstream memory manufacturers, including Samsung and SK Hynix, have issued EOL notifications for DDR3 2Gb and 4Gb ICs EOL 2 years ago. Acknowledging the challenges inherent in platform migration, we are offering a 9-month LTB window to support customers’ ongoing commitments. For non-substitutable use cases where immediate redesign is not feasible, Nanya IC has been validated as a qualified 2nd source for DDR3 supply. Nevertheless, for all new projects, we strongly recommend adopting DDR5, as it offers clear advantages in long-term supply availability, pricing stability, performance scalability, and product longevity.  

STRATEGIC ROADMAP 

To manage this transition effectively, we are categorizing product lines into two distinct strategies: A. Strategy for legacy system (Network Security, medical and etc). We understand that certain verticals have certification constraints that make immediate redesigns impractical. Therefore, we offer a 9-month LTB for validated Nanya Chip as a second source for the UDIMM product line only. Customers using DDR3 registered/ECC DIMMs will need to migrate to a DDR5 platform immediately.  B. Strategy for Future Projects & New Designs for all upcoming projects, we strongly advise to adopt DDR5 for it offers guaranteed supply longevity, and long-term stability compared to the diminishing availability of DDR3. 

Conclusion

The DDR3 EOL represents a structural and irreversible industry transition. Through early last-time-buy LTB execution, second-source enablement, and platform migration to DDR5, operational risks can be effectively controlled while positioning the business for long-term supply security and technology competitiveness. Based on current usage analysis, DDR3 represents less than 5% of our total memory consumption and is concentrated in legacy platforms. We will ensure that all customers using DDR3 will have their demands satisfied and will transition to new platforms smoothly.

IS&D formally announce that we have phased out following products. This announcement will take effect immediately. Please review this phase-out notice carefully and contact your regional IS&D buyer immediately if your customers have any further inquiries on these items.

The manufacturer has decided to phase out the product as production is not economically viable.
