Advantech AI Factory Brain: Proven First in Its Own Factory, AI Agents Boost Output and Optimize Operations

Advantech AI Factory Brain is a multi-agent system built around factory management, serving as the central intelligent command center for factory operations. Developed in technology collaboration with NVIDIA, it translates factory operating goals into actionable, trackable improvement tasks on the production line. Advantech first deployed it on 20 high-mix, low- volume production lines at its AIoT Co-Creation Campus Manufacturing Center.

The Challenge

Electronics assembly and industrial computer manufacturing involve frequent product changeovers and constantly shifting staffing and workstation loads. With ERP, MES, and shop- floor equipment data scattered across systems, conventional AI stops at anomaly alerts and cannot directly take on operating KPIs or coordinate improvements across production lines. 

How It Works

1. Set the goal: The plant manager sets an operating goal, such as “increase output per worker by 10%”
2. Analyze and generate tasks: AI Factory Brain mobilizes multiple Agents to identify pain points that can be improved, works with the Event Center Core to pinpoint bottlenecks, and generates goal-oriented improvement plans and task lists.
3. Human review: Improvement plans are confirmed by the Production Line Leader and reviewed by the plant manager
4. Execute and verify daily: Edge AI reports production line activity, and the Report Agent tracks daily whether targets are met and compiles verification reports, closing the improvement loop
